Food security for Bangladesh


The Bangladeshi government can not buy rice from international markets because of all countries exporting rice and wheat declined from the sale of rice and wheat as a reserve for food security and forefront of those countries, India, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar.
This put the government in Bangladesh is nothing wrong with a large forced to buy rice from Vietnam at Gal than 35%.
The import of rice and wheat by the private sector has become almost impossible due to the high prices are unnatural in international markets. It is clear from this that the food situation in the country is not well.
In addition to agricultural production in the country also has declined because of natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, drought, note that 20% of the gross domestic product comes from the agricultural sector.
And 65% of local employment associated with this sector.
The other hand, experts predicted that rice production in Bangladesh would fall from the current rate is also due to natural disasters in the coming years. and so will Bangladesh turn to the country supported all the dependence on food imports from abroad and that GDP will decline because the rate of 1-3% per year while food prices are increasing so price of wheat rose by 36%.
To face this situation and to maintain the food security of the country to be the government of Bangladesh to take necessary measures to follow.
1. Educate citizens so that the actual food situation they can take preventive measures prior consent.
2. Create an atmosphere suitable for joint action by the government and the opposition to address the problem of food in the country.
3. Urged senior civil associations such as the Grameen Bank and BRAC to secure food for the poor at subsidized prices.
4. Should be linked to military operations taken to address the food crisis.
5. Put an end to the establishment of projects in non-production agricultural land.
6. Provide for the import of food on an emergency basis by understanding the situation and the blockage of roads to be imported from abroad, despite the high exchange rates.
7. Attention by the government to increase food production in the country.
8. Provide financial support to farmers to enable them to increase food production.
9. Avoid actions that would prejudice the natural launch assault landing.
10. Take punitive action against gangs involved in manipulating the prices of food and its monopoly in the country.
